How to Convert PNG to JPG
- Drop a PNG, choose a file, or paste an image from the clipboard.
- Pick a background color for transparent areas (default white).
- Adjust JPEG quality, then download the JPG.
Why PNG Transparency Needs a Background
JPEG has no alpha channel. Transparent pixels must become a real color before the file can be saved as JPG.
PNG vs JPG
PNG keeps sharp edges and transparency. JPG is usually smaller for photographs but can soften text and icons.
When Should You Use JPG?
Use JPG when a form, CMS, or printer asks for JPEG, or when you need a smaller photo-style file and transparency is not required.
Image Quality Explained
Quality 60–74 aims smaller, 75–89 is balanced, and 90–100 keeps more detail. Exact file size is only known after conversion.
Privacy
Conversion runs in this browser. DevNestro does not receive the PNG. Canvas export typically does not carry source PNG metadata into the JPG; if you need to inspect the result, use Photo Metadata Cleaner.
FAQ
Why do I need a background colour?
JPEG cannot store transparency, so those pixels need a solid colour.
Will text stay sharp?
JPEG can soften edges. Keep quality high, or stay on PNG when the graphic is mostly text or icons.
Does this remove all metadata?
This tool does not claim that every metadata field is removed. Browser canvas export usually starts without the original PNG metadata, but verify with Photo Metadata Cleaner when that matters.
