What does JPG to PNG do?
It re-encodes a JPEG as PNG. PNG is lossless from that point on, but it cannot restore detail JPEG already discarded.

Will the PNG be larger?
Often yes. JPEG is usually smaller for photos. Use PNG when you need lossless edits later.
Does this add transparency?
No. JPEG has no alpha channel, so the PNG is fully opaque.
