How to convert PNG to JPG without losing too much quality
PNG transparency is a feature until a CMS, a printer, or an older form demands JPEG. Then the alpha channel has to become a colour. A PNG to JPG converter that lets you pick that background prevents unexpected black boxes or checkerboards in the export. Quality near 90 keeps more detail for text and icons; lower values trade clarity for size.
Why this is worth doing in the browser
People screenshot a PNG and call it JPEG. That is a worse image. The DevNestro PNG to JPG tool converts in the browser, fills transparency, shows real size savings after conversion, and gives you a photograph-style file you can compress further. Paste from the clipboard when your browser allows it. For many files, open Batch Image Toolkit instead of forcing batch mode here. Use JPG to PNG when you are going the other way.
How to use the tool
Drop or paste the PNG, pick a white, black, or custom background, set quality, convert, and download a sanitized .jpg name from the source file. For WebP, use the WebP Converter. Check metadata afterward if that matters for your workflow.
- Choose a background colour that matches the site or print stock.
- Start quality near 90 when the PNG has text or logos; exact size is known only after conversion.
- Compress if the form has a size cap.
- Keep the PNG when you still need transparency later.
Privacy
Conversion runs in your browser. The image is not uploaded to DevNestro. Canvas export usually starts without original PNG metadata; verify with Photo Metadata Cleaner when that matters.
If the upload button says JPEG, give it JPEG. Open PNG to JPG, set the background, and download a file the form will take.
