Audit formulas without uploading the workbook
Finance and ops workbooks hide risk in relative formula runs that suddenly become a typed constant, #REF! after a delete, or an external link nobody meant to ship. Cloud auditors upload the whole ledger. V1 should stay local, explain Issues with sheet/cell/formula/reason, and never auto-rewrite cells.
Why this is worth doing in the browser
DevNestro’s Spreadsheet Formula Auditor parses XLSX with the same SheetJS path used by Data Cleaner and Chart Maker. It normalizes relative formulas for pattern comparison (so =A2*C2 and =A3*C3 share a pattern), flags inconsistencies and hardcoded breaks as Needs Review, and surfaces #REF!, #VALUE!, #DIV/0!, #NAME?, external workbook refs, hidden sheets/rows/cols, empty references, circular hints, and suspicious oversized ranges. Filters cover All, Errors, Formula Inconsistencies, Hardcoded Values, External Links, and Hidden Content. Optional export of findings to CSV or a simple PDF is available; the workbook itself is never auto-fixed.
How to use the tool
Drop an XLSX, wait for the summary, filter the issue list, click a row for detail, optionally export findings, then fix the file in Excel or Sheets yourself. Chart Maker and Data Cleaner help after the structure is clean.
- Needs Review is not a declaration that the cell is wrong.
- Do not auto-fix formulas in V1.
- Very large workbooks are sampled for performance; check the status note.
- Keep sensitive ledgers offline on shared machines.
