Check a PDF for leftover metadata before it leaves
Office PDFs remember authors, software versions, and sometimes titles that were internal working names. That is useful on your disk and awkward in a public attachment. A document privacy cleaner shows metadata the parser can read and helps you save a copy with less of that trail.
Why this is worth doing in the browser
Printing to PDF is not the same as sanitising. The DevNestro Document Privacy Cleaner inspects supported files in the browser and produces a cleaner copy where the tool can do so. It will not magically remove text on the page — use Privacy Redactor for visible names. It will not guarantee every vendor-specific blob is gone. It will catch a lot of the obvious producer fields people forget.
How to use the tool
Drop the PDF (within the size limit on the page), read the findings, and download the cleaned file if one is offered. Use Content Credentials Checker for media provenance. Use Photo Metadata Cleaner for photographs.
- Inspect the file you will actually send, not an older export.
- Read author, title, and producer fields as if a client will see them.
- Redact visible text separately if names are in the page content.
- Send the cleaned download and archive the original privately.
Privacy
Inspection runs in your browser. Documents are not uploaded to DevNestro for this tool.
Let the pages speak, not the Properties panel. Open the Document Privacy Cleaner before the PDF goes to a client.
