Generate a GUID you can paste into local development
Local databases, feature flags, and test fixtures need identifiers that will not collide with the next clone on your laptop. A GUID generator is faster than spinning up a REPL, and it keeps you from typing `11111111-...` into a demo that later hits production.
Why this is worth doing in the browser
The DevNestro GUID Generator produces RFC-compliant GUID values for development work. It is not a guarantee of cryptographic uniqueness across an adversarial world, and it is not a password. Use the Password Generator for secrets. Use JSON to C# when the identifier belongs inside a generated DTO sample.
How to use the tool
Generate one or several, copy, and paste into the fixture. Regenerate if you accidentally committed a “temporary” value that must stay unique per environment.
- Generate a new value per entity; do not reuse a demo GUID in two tables.
- Keep the canonical hyphenated form unless the host documents otherwise.
- Do not treat a GUID as a secret.
- Copy from the page rather than retyping.
Privacy
Values are generated in the current session. DevNestro does not register your GUIDs in a global directory.
Need an id for a local row? Open the GUID Generator, copy one, and keep the demo data from colliding with itself.
